Jack LOVES chocolate, and watches Willy Wonka multiple times a day. So for his 5th birthday, our plan was to wake him up for school, but instead, surprise him with a trip to Hershey, Pennsylvania. We were going to stay at the Hotel Hershey where we booked a room that walked right out onto the indoor pool, do the chocolate factory tour, go to the museum, the zoo, and the botanical garden, and just explore the town. We were SO disappointed that we had to cancel the trip due to the Coronavirus at the last minute, but we’re thankful that everyone is healthy. We still plan on taking him on this trip at some point, but in the meantime, we had to scramble to plan a VERY last minute “party”.
We woke him up to streamers (as always), he played laser tag with his brothers, and then we set up a scavenger hunt which led him to a pirate map. The boys all dressed up as pirates and followed the map to find Jack’s gifts. They all played outside, Jack got to drive on the beach, and then we came home and set up a make your own chocolate bar activity. We wrapped up the party with pizza and cake, and then Fisher and Jack played Minecraft until late in the night! Although it wasn’t what we originally had planned, we think Jack had a great 5th birthday!
